2009 fiesta awd

Featured Replies

Thinking of awd my fiesta. I read that the ecosport rear end fits perfect. Any one else heard this.

No.

Also no. However given that the Ecosport was based on a Fiesta platform and some versions had a 4wd option it's not necessarily that far fetched.

Never seen a technical write up on the 4wd system used, but I have an idea I saw somewhere it was meant as more of an occasional/emergency system than a full time one.

Edit: I recall seeing a lot of waffle on this on the US Fiesta ST forum (https://www.fiestastforum.com/) but I don't think it came to anything.

Probably gonna be a OPW, but, hey ho.

Anything is possible, if you have the funds available, or you have the skill set to do the fabrication, wiring etc, yourself.

Cheapest - not that it's cheap - and least hassle option is probably to just buy a Proto shell from the likes of:  https://www.evolve-motorsport.com/fiesta/  They usually come in two flavours, STI or Evo configuration.  Personally, cost aside, since I've got one sitting doing nothing I've got with the Subaru version.

If you were to attempt to build it up yourself, the EVO configuration would probably be easiest as it's an inline 4 pot, unlike the horizontally opposed boxer engine.  Also the gearbox is mounted at the side of the engine, rather than hanging off the back of the EJ/EG series engines.  It's not just a case of slapping in a power and drivetrain though, you need to do all the associated electrics to get the thing even thinking about running.

Depending on how deep your pockets are, maybe just go for something a little newer with this being a MK7.5: https://www.motorsportauctions.com/category/74/world-rally-cars/listings/61860/fiesta-r5-rhd-2.html
