💥 Ford Fiesta MHEV 155HP Tuning - Gearbox Issues?

Featured Replies

Hello Ford Owners Club,

I'm reaching out to see if anyone in the community has experience with tuning the Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost mHEV 155HP / 240NM model.

I live in Denmark, where these specific mHEV models are not commonly remapped or tuned, making it difficult to find local shared experiences.

I recently had mine tuned, and the results were great on paper: 188HP and 310NM. However, I have now had the gearbox fail for the second time!

Because of these repeated failures, I am putting the car back to the standard map/stock performance.

Before I do, I'd really like to hear what others have done and what your results/experiences have been, especially regarding reliability.

My current modifications are:

  • Milltek Exhaust (muffler delete)

  • Cold Air Intake

Did anyone else experience gearbox issues after tuning? Or, what safe tuning levels (HP/NM) did you find reliable for the standard gearbox?

Any advice or shared experiences would be highly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

We've seen quite a few of these gearboxes fail on standard cars with the 155ps MHEV now.  I am not surprised that any amount of tuning has broken your gearbox.

The Puma MHEV comes with 170bhp, but is only available with an automatic gearbox, because the manual is not strong enough.

And they've dropped the manual from the 155 on the Puma, as with the last Focuses.

So that means is best to just keep it standard? or is it simple to make the gearbox stronger?

I haven't seen anyone make the gearbox stronger so far.  For now it is best to keep standard.

350Nm Is more than the Mk 8.5 ST which has the (supposedly) stronger B6+ gearbox.

I wonder how the car is driven? Personally I don't have a great deal of confidence in even the ST box and treat it pretty gently until well into 3rd.
