Door Microswitch issue?

Featured Replies

I have an issue with my 06 focus. I'm completely stuck so hoping for some help. The passenger front door is locked and I'm unable to unlock or open it. I have the 'door open' message on the dash. The door is completely dead, no power to speaker, window, mirror or lock. I checked the door module fuse and it had blown. Have replaced it but the door is still dead (no power)

The problem I have is that the door is locked shut so I can't get the door card off to replace the latch! Any ideas? How can I manually unlock the door? im starting to think my only option is to cut a large hole in the card.

Think you’ll be able to get the doorpad off with the door still closed.

Look up the info on YouTube, example here

Main difficulty with door closed it may be fiddly getting the tweeter housing off and wiring disconnected and you may have to just find places to pull the doorpad away instead of levering it. In theory the 2-stage clips release after a sharp pull but I’ve known the doorpad mountings to break instead.

Hopefully that’ll give you access to the connector from the body to the door to check for corrosion etc and also the release cable if the door can be opened that way. May need power to allow unlocking first though.

The problem is very likely a broken/damaged wiring harness as the cable connects between the main body and the door. If I understand you correctly everything on the door is dead so it is possible the door harness has become partly unplugged from the car body.

Remove the footwell panel on the passenger side. You should be able to reach in and see/feel the harness that goes to the door. If you give it a bit of a push and a wiggle you might just be able to get the door to power-up long enough to unlock it.

Yes,the fact hat the speaker is dead did make me think that it could be more loom related.  As you say, it may well be the plug 🙏

I've got the gloves box out and the side foot panel out.  It's really quite difficult to get your hand in under the A pillar.  I've given the wiring a good push and wiggle but no luck.  Will try again tomorrow
