Fiesta mk7 rear beam

Featured Replies

Hey ya’ll, so, my Fiesta mk7 (pre facelift) decided that the rear beam was not needed anymore and well, it’s cracked.

Question is, does the facelift model have the same rear beam in terms of fitment etc? There is nothing near me and with shipping costs, it’s more value for me to just buy the rear beam off a 2017 model rather than a 2008-12.

From the images all seems good, both with drum brakes, and on the listing I’m paying a little more but I also get the whole drums, springs and dampers, instead of just the beam.

Rear beam

I can't advise here but that picture you've shown is shocking, never seen anything like it :bangin:

I’m surprised I didn’t notice it earlier. But yeah did fint it once I had some more camber on one of my wheels lmao.

The beam is exactly the same on both facelift and pre-facelift.

There are two options though.  Standard beam has a hole at A.  Sports suspension beam does not have that hole.

That one has passed me by! Whats the hole (or lack of) for?

Its sportier without the hole. 🙃

The A hole? 🤭

I think it's just for identification.  Can't imagine one small hole would actually soften the beam at all.

I would have thought the hole was sportier - must be a massive weight saving!😀

But I wonder why the need to identify it if there is no functional difference?

Anyway, I was just looking for any further explanation (didn't find one) but just spotted Pumaspeed are doing ST beams c/w discs which might be of interest to some:

Looking at the table in Tom's post above does the 24/05/2018 date indicate that the one with a hole is obsolete?

No, that's the end of Mk7 Fiesta production.

Ah I see.  I think the beam itself might be a bit weaker to allow some more flex for a smoother ride.  But don't think the hole is the cause of that.  The mounting points are the same on both though, so they are interchangeable.

I was wondering if the beam with a hole was actually for a Polo? (Sorry!).

Plenty of s/h ones on fleabay but hard to spot the holes. This one, though seems to be off a standard car and appears to have the hole?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/406268496193?

This second one claims to be from  a ZS and as far as I can see, doesn't have a hole:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/357728434204?

Another ZS one that doesn't seem to have the hole but also mentions "yellow dot"

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/285205407051?

So, there do seem to be two types but couldn't see any explanation why so far.

We knew the beam in the Mk 7 ST was stiffened, and the Mk 8 even more so, but I always thought the suspension on the ZS/ST-L was just lower springs and firmer dampers.

Never seen any different on any of the "mainstream" websites, but just came up with these references which suggest otherwise. That would certainly explain the need for an identifier.
