Ford Focus MK3 - Delayed acceleration and jittering

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out for a bit of advice and support regarding my Ford Focus 2011 1.6 tdci MK3. It's hit 149K miles, I'm aware it's old and has astronomical miles and won't be perfect. No engine light present, but code for: DTC P02A6

I’ve been having ongoing issues with delayed acceleration and jittering when driving — it’s constant from pulling off and low speeds. The car drives, but if I can improve it as I’ve already changed quite a few components in an attempt to fix it, but the issue still seems to persist.

In the last year I've changed:

- All four injectors

- Throttle body

- Fuel pump and filter

- Timing belt

- Map sensor

- EGR Valve

- Filters

- Oil

I’m now wondering if anyone else has experienced similar symptoms and what the root cause turned out to be for you.

If anyone has suggestions for what to check next — whether it’s something electrical, fuel-related, or even ECU/air intake related — I’d really appreciate your insight.

Happy to share more detail about what’s already been replaced if that helps narrow it down.

Thanks in advance for any help or pointers.

— Dan

High Pressure fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator or sensor

Fuel pressure regulator or the  sensor would be my next step.

Thank you both, appreciate it! I'll look into that for the next step.
