MK7 Fiesta with Mk8 Alloys - Experiences?

Featured Replies

I just purchased some used Mk8 18" ST alloys for my Mk7 van and there's a clash with the calliper. Has anyone else tried this and how did they get on please?

Presumably the front face of the caliper?  Plenty of side space around an 18" rim.  Sounds like you'll need to add wheel spacers to bring the offset back out again.

yup, its the front face of the caliper that's fouling. I tried 3mm slip on spacers this morning but still binding so I tried 5mm and the nuts wont reach the studs though there seems to be enough clearance. Unsure whether this is all worth the hassle as the arch and bumper clearances are also a bit concerning. I may find that after going to the hassle of buying and fitting longer studs to get the wheels to turn that the tyre rubs on something. Do you know if it is normal to only fit spacers to 2 wheels or should all 4 be done?

Iirc, from figures I've seen in road test reviews, the standard Mk 8 had 30mm wider track at the front, and 10mm at the rear, compared to a Mk 7. The Mk 8 ST had a further 18mm at the front.

Jeez, does that mean I need 25mm spacers? That gives me the fear

Definitely not worth the hassle.  I'd just buy some wheels that fit.

But to answer the question, you can just add spacers to two wheels if you like.  Generally people do the rear two for stance aesthetics but there's no particular reason you couldn't just do the fronts instead.

The Mk 8 ST wheel.is 42.5 offset. Don't know what you have at present, but looks as if a very sizeable spacer would be required.

I've never used spacers myself in over 50 years of driving. I was put off for life by a mate who fitted extended studs to accommodate big spacers - a wheel came off on a bend (fortunately no injuries, but one bent Mini!)

Yes, a 7.5" wheel with 42.5 offset is what I purchased. I had the 16" 12 Spoke alloys from 2013. J6.5 with offset 47.5. The online calculator said OK but the reality appears to be different 😞

The one I've looked at** suggested not recommended.

You might need to put the details in again - the link keeps changing!

It said 7mm closer on inside, I figured that was plenty. The dish on the new wheels is flatter and less concave than the original and that's where the issue with the caliper lies. Gutted 😞
