TMPS sensor

Featured Replies

Hi All,

new to the newer side of the Focus and have a TPMS question one of the sensors keeps dropping out so I’m guessing the battery is dying (funnily enough I have the same issues on my Galaxy, but I know 100% the answer for that)

question is; is it the same as the Galaxy can the sensor just be swapped out and the car automatically updates to the new sensor or will it need programming?
Will be using a genuine Ford TPMS sensor

Car is a 2017 Mk3.5

Thanks!

Jim

Easy to teach the new TPMS sensors with a cheap tool from Amazon.

Now regarding the TPMS. The batteries in all 4 of your 2015 cars wheels will be at the end of there life, so you may as well replace them all and do the job just once.

You programme them once they have been fitted and the wheels are back on the car.

Personally I deleted mine, they have a life of around 7 years, not user serviceable and not actually necessary.

But a legal requirement mandated on all passenger cars registered after January 1, 2012 in the UK.

TPMS was introduced in stages. Initially it applied to new models from 2012, then extended to all new cars sold, from November 2014.

For example, our 2014 SEAT Mii (model range introduced pre-2012) has no TPMS. It was pre-reg by the dealer just before the regulation came into force as they would have been unable to legally sell it as a new car after that. We got a cracking deal!
