FOCUS MK2 tdci headlight bulb

Hi all got an issue with the drivers side headlight bulb blowing after about 7 months of changing only seems to be the drivers side for some reason am I getting a power surge or relay problem any advice much appreciated thanks 



It's more likely that you are touching the halogen bulb with your fingers when fitting it.

Thanks for replying unofix yeah it’s possible but always careful not to touch the glass next time ultra careful see if that does the trick cheers 

What make of bulbs are you using? If they're Chinese made that might explain it. I once bought a couple of oven bulbs not realising they were made in China. Each one lasted almost exactly 2 weeks.

That’s a good call must check the origin of the bulb if I can find package thanks 

I've found through experience over the years that the brighter than normal but still legal ones do not last as long as the standard ones.

When I first bought a Mk2.5 there was a common theme about headlight bulbs blowing frequently due to a surge from the GEM at every ignition cycle.  But I haven't seen that one mentioned for years now?

(Didn't affect my car as it had Xenons).

The brighter than normal ones I had in my Mk2.5 lasted around 1 year and when one went the other side went within days or a few weeks at most.

Yeah must be a thing with brighter bulbs not as long lasting keep a few spare just in case thanks

Thanks for replying Tom seems possible could effect the Mk2 I Will maybe try those next time
