2018 fiesta 1.0 ecoboost P0420 code

Featured Replies

Hope someone can help. Bought this car for my son with 67,000 miles on. We've had this code come up and the garage have said its oxy sensor, bank 1 but showing in normal range or it maybe the cat. Now they saying it might be the thermostat housing.

Starts quite ruff, does take longer than my 20 plate to warm up. Mpg has dropped from 45 to 25. Heaters are quite good in it. Tends to cut out when first started and rattles a bit. No smoke or smells coming from it.

Anyone had the same problem??? Thanks 😊

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

You've gone to the primary school Christmas Fair, that's the 'lucky dip' stall not a garage !!!

Either get FORScan and do the diagnostics yourself or take the car to a Ford equipped garage.

FORScan (for use with Windows Laptop) : https://forscan.org/download.html

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

OR

For diagnostic use only:

More often than not on the earlier 1.0 engines that DTC does truely mean that the cat is faulty. I have changed more cats than O2 sensors on these engines (excluding the new ones 2019+).

If you could monitor the O2 sensor 2 (post cat) it should give nice a steady reading as the cat is doing its job. If it's a bit erratic then I'd suggest the cat has failed.
