Focus 2015 eco boost coolant draining to quickly

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, noticed my heater in my car wasn’t blowing hot air, got out and checked the coolant and it was completely empty, topped it up and went on my way. By the time I’m home it’s completely empty again and no hot air. What could this be and is it going to cost me a arm and leg to get it seen to.

After careful thought 🤔 I would suspect a leak !! 🤣

Maybe, maybe not.

It won't be less than £5 and not more than £3395 assuming of course this is a 1.0 EcoBoost.

Are your footwell carpets wet ??

If you can't find a leak I would start with a new header tank and cap. Cheap easy and often the source of the problem because the tank develops microscopic cracks that let the coolant escape when the engine is hot.

Thanks guys for the reply’s, got it seen today and it’s the thermostat housing that’s damage

That should be a cheap job. This forum member has just had his replaced on a Focus 1.0 Ecoboost

Here is what they charged me.

Charge for fault finding (no idea how long it took them to find it.) £109.00 + VAT (They quoted £154 including but gave me a small discount.)

This was the Thermostat Housing they fitted = £128.27

ECOSPORT FIESTA GTDI ECOBOOST THERMOSTAT & HOUSING – Ford Online Shop UK

2 X 1L of Antifreeze = £23.28 + VAT

Total parts = £151.55

Total labour = £327.00

Total VAT = £95.71

Grand total was £574.26.

Their comments were as follows - "Coolant coming from Thermostat Housing. Advise new however, there could be internal damage to the engine".  🫢

I was quoted £220 for parts and labour which sounded fair enough in my opinion

Yes that's about what I would expect from a garage these days. 👍
