Ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCI (2009) Issues Starting

Featured Replies

Afternoon,

After some help, my 2009 Fiesta 1.6 TDCi is having issues starting, first it was a failed starter motor but now it seems to be fuel related.

It starts then cuts out within 2-3 seconds unless I rev it and keep revving it for 60 seconds then it won't cut out. If it does cut out, it will not start again unless I spray easy start in the inlet. I am not sure if it's a combination of the glow plugs (causing the cut out) and possibly some air in the fuel lines not sure. I have inspected all the fuel pipes and can't see any leaks or cracks.

I have just replaced the leak off lines and plan to replace the fuel filter to see if that improves things. Also, going to have a bash at the glow plugs.

Just wondering if there is anything else common on these I can easily replace, any sensors or possibly EGR issues? Also, the car never seems to "cold start" where the revs are usually a bit higher than normal until its warm, does the TDCI fiesta do that?

Thanks
