Mass air flow sensor.

Featured Replies

Good morning,

We have a 2004 Mk6 1.4 petrol Fiesta. The car seems to hesitate, only momentarily every so often. I am not the most technical but am always happy to give things a go.

Speaking to a work colleague they said it's probably the mass air flow sensor, so I rang partsplus to order a new one and they tell me the car doesn't have one!

Can anyone let me know if it does or doesn't or any other suggestions as to the possible cause of the hesitation accelerating.

The car has only 30,000 miles from new.

Thanks for looking,

Mike.

When was it serviced last?

What fuel are you using?

This engine does not use a MAF sensor.

Serviced 12 months ago so due now.

I only use BP 97Ron.

I have bought new plugs, ht leads and air filter.

Thank you Tom for the info regarding MAF sensor.

When were the Spark Plugs and the Coil Pack last replaced ?

I suspect a weak spark on one or more of the plugs.

Plugs will have been about two years ago, coil pack I have no idea.

Is the coil, pack an easy enough job to diy?

Very easy to change. 4 fixing screws, 4 HT leads and one plug. Don't buy the cheap Chinese ones from Amazon, get a decent quality one.

It would still be worth changing the plugs if you change the coil pack.

Nice one, thank you for coming back.

I might have jumped the gun a bit.

I have ordered this one, along with BOSCH leads and plugs.

That will be just fine. 👍

So, got some time off for the Christmas and am tackling some other jobs on the Fiesta, water hoses and coolant change.

When that is done I will be able to get on with the ignition bits and pieces and report back on how the car is then running.
