Strange Marks on HUD

Hi. I am a new Ford owner who bought a 2021 Focus Vignalle with a snazzy HUD. When I was test driving it, I noticed round marks on the HUD and assumed I could simply wipe them off the perspex. Not so simple! I have cleaned the perspex with a soft cloth and the marks remain. It looks a bit like a petri dish, with something growing in it. Yeuch. I guess, like any projector there is a lens and a mirror involved which is where the marks must be. Seems to be nothing on-line about this. Has anyone else seen this problem?
