Cambelt replacement

Featured Replies

I have just purchased a 2003 Ford Fiesta 1.6 Ghia with 38000 genuine  miles on and I do not know if the cam belt has been changed or not.

1. How can I tell if it needs replacing.

2. If I get it changed do I need to change the water pump as well

At that year 2003 i would replace all the belts pulleys and water pump as there no way someone did it at 38k

I had mine changed at 37,000 and there was a tooth missing off the belt. Car was 8 years old.

Be interesting to see what you get quoted as our 1.4 is due.

I will be changing water pump as well.

Quote from Ford main dealer yesterday 02/01/2026 £869:00 all in.

All associated fluids and belts and water pump.

I would've posted this sooner but needed help getting back up off the floor. 🥵

Same job from any decent independent garage will be around £500 to £600
