Airfix 1/24th Spitfire MKVb built model.

Think a few old fellas on here will like this classic kit from Airfix, kit originally came out in the 1970's.

Not brilliant but I like it and it caused a few headaches whilst building it, nothing fitted :fear:

I'm not that old 😂 l like the spitfire. even theMesserschmitt was good in its own right but obviously the spitfire was the better of them along with the Lancaster bomber.

That a very good replica of it and of its paint pattern 😎👍

Here you go 'old guy'👨‍🦽

Old Airfix 1/24th 109, finished in March this year, but the build had been on & off for at least 5 years,
this was a re-box red box kit and was absolutely crap as I couldn't get the wings to fit the fuselage :wallbash:

The quality of your work and attention to detail really shows, for those of us who used to take Airfix Magazine, your models look a lot better than A. W. Hall's !

Single radiator version, but what is that under the port wing of the Spitfire ?

Last kit I assembled

About 5 years ago I purchased my grandson a few Airfix Quickbuild kits, cars & planes, he had fun making them all but he had a great idea in dropping them off the top of the stairs, smashing up, all got lobbed into a box, 6 different kits and all messed up like a jigsaw, I was gradually sorting the parts out to drop off at a charity shop, then the box couldn't be seen, missus chucked the lot. wasn't too happy as they wasn't cheap.

Old guy 😂.. your skill is amazing and it still looks amazingly good what you did the colouring and decal placement is brilliant. The D Day / battle of britain spitfire Paulkp despite being a quick build has to be the best the look the spitfire got given 😎👍

Many Spitfires fetch at least £1 to £3 million quid, older aircraft like a MKI go for even more money but just don't pop up like a Sierra on ebay......I bet the running/insurance costs are crazy....Only for the rich!

Not skill  pal, just perseverance/patience/time/commitment etc etc etc......Some kits I've encountered have literally been unbuildable so I've given up and binned the lot, was making the huge 1/72nd Airfix AWACS some 10 years ago and the plastic just delaminated, I'd never come across such model plastic and used bottle after bottle of tamiya extra thin cement, just keep slapping the liquid over the cracking but it cracked elsewhere, eventually it beat me and threw the lot in the bin.

See you don't see it as skill but it is, even if someone else who wasn't used to doing it did that it would look as good because it takes skill to know how to perfect it n make them look as good as they do.

personally if l had done it would probably fall apart from just trying to pick it up and it would more likely look better before l attempted to build it 😂

As to the AWACS that sounds like it was a proper nightmare on your patience at the first sign of cracking it would have dived in the bin if it was me.. 🤦‍♂️
