Fiesta MK7.5 - Rear offside seat knock over bumps

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have an annoying issue with the rear offside seat (the dual-seat, not single). When the rear wheels come off a speed bump, I get a knock/clunk sound. I thought it was the suspension at first but I noticed it did not make any noise when there was a passenger seated there. So I decided to do some testing... when the rear seat is down, it still makes a slight clunking noise but nowhere near as bad as if it was in it's original position.

Is the bottom of the seat loose? How can I go about fixing this?

I've also heard that the seat latch can also be loose but I don't think that's the problem.

Thanks.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to the rear seat to prevent this?

Wrap some cloth tape around the catch

Thanks for the reply. I wrapped a thick layer of tape around the catch which has reduced the knocking noise going over bumps significantly.

I can still hear the knocking noise a bit but not as much as before. The squeaking noise (forgot to mention before) is still present.

Any ideas where these noises could be coming from? What about the boot itself or boot catch? Any other common causes?

Garage said they couldn't see anything under the car that could be causing these noises.

Could be the tailgate latch, yes

I think i may have had this previously from removing the small rear seat when adding rear speakers. If it is the same thing I had, the plastic insert at the bottom of the seat where it connects to the bigger seat has come out of the seat. So the metal frame of the inside of the seat is rattling against the metal pin that connects the big and small seats together.

Easiest way to check is to get in the back of the car, release the seat at the top and try and move the seat about, you should be able to recreate the noise easily if this is the case.

Trying to find a photo of the part i've come accross this video. This is what i meant about moving the seat around, is this the noise?
