Fiesta 2020 USB hub removal - Rear cupholder

Featured Replies

 Can anyone help ?

I am trying to remove the USB hub from the rear cupholder on a 2020 Fiesta. I've popped it out but there's not enough slack to disconnect and reconnect.

The cupholder area looks to be a separate plastic moulding but I cant see a way to release it. Do i have to remove the whole center console ?

Many thanksHub.thumb.jpg.f1ddd3f49f205446e8b0503c04fd1d3b.jpg

Try popping up the handbrake gaiter (with the handbrake released) and see if you can get your fingers in behind to support the plug. you may get a pick or screwdriver into the clip on the connector from there,

I think it's going to have to be whole center console out.

Take a look at these pictures on eBay of the console and wiring. Perhaps there is a way to get a tiny bit extra length ?

Huge thanks for the reply's.

I had to bite the bullet and 95% remove the center console then laid on my back to get under the console and swap the USB hub. I think it was only the front wiring connections that I didn't undo.

Little background: I just purchased this Fiesta from a dealer far far away and paid a premium only to find the USB's were dead. I had checked fuses, reset Sync, tried battery disconnect and removed the Sync from the dash to check connections. Horrible experience and a 6 week wait to get it into Ford. It was only when I put a torch on the rear USB port I could see corrosion that led me to change the hub. There must have been a liquid spill from the previous owner. The hub also provides the connection to the gearstick area USB port.

With huge relief I am happy to report changing the hub has been successful and I now have 2 working ports. As my Sync unit is a NON-Nav I had no maps without the phone connection and it's essential for my work.

Where would we be without YouTube. Thanks again all.
