Where does this attach to.

Featured Replies

While servicing the Fiesta and doing others odds and sods on the car I came across this.

It was just loose but has a small bracket on it.  Any idea where it should attach too?

Thats one of your o2 sensors, and should defintately not be disconnected like that.

Im assuming if its been done by a previous owner or a garage (bodge if so) that the sensor is duff, or its covering another underlying issue.

Could be the cause of the hesitation you are experiencing as the fuel mixture will be all wrong.

Surprised your eml isnt on.

Is that not the upstream O2 sensor, and should connect to the other bit under the masking tape......?

I disconnected the green plug yesterday to make it easier to replace the water hoses. The black bracket though in the 2nd picture looks like it should be attached somewhere but it is not obvious, to me anyway.

Interesting point about the fuel mixture and hesitation. How difficult is it to change the sensor for a new one?

youd need to diagnose correctly with forscan before changing anything.

My comment was on the assumption someone else had disconnected that.  it may not be your issue.

as for the bracket, its just a support for the harness, so can be bolted anywhere suitable that doesnt snag or chaff the cable.

cant tell you the exact location as i dont have anything with that engine in the garage just now

cheers

Ok, nice one, thank you for coming back. I'll look into the forscan thing but that might be a bit above my intellect. I'll do some research though.

Thanks again.

To get the sensor out (once correctly diagnosed, DTC P0030 ?) you do need a tall "C" socket (22mm ??) and probably a "breaker" bar to get it out.  Apparently easier when warm, but don't burn yourself on the hot sensor!

I might try and find someone local to do the diagnostic thing. I'd be happy to have a go and do the work myself.

Thank you for your advice and tips, appreciated.
