Engine Malfunction warning

Featured Replies

Ford Focus Sport Tdci 1.6 2011 . Engine Malfunction warning keeps coming on.....usually when the weather is 5C or lower. If I pull over, turn engine off and immediately restart the warning disappears. Same fault last year & injectors were done. Annual mileage is low now, 1800 miles per year last 2 years, 2700 year before.....prior to that average per year current owner 6500 from MOT 2019....(excluding COVID). (Car purchased Dec 2019). What's the most likely cause....or, it just needs a good run out? TIA

Hi,

Need to read the fault codes with Forscan.

Could be fuel filter - diesel gets thicker and waxy in cold temps.

Could be DPF not managing to complete a regen in colder temps.

Could be glow plugs or EGR.

Definitely worth getting Forscan rather than replacing parts that may be unnecessary.
