Air filter extra filter.

Happy New Year all.

While working on the Fiesta today I got to checking the air filter. I think I am going to change it for a new one. There does seem though to be an extra filter in the housing.

Any ideas.

Checking online for a new filter the extra bit doesn't seem to be included.

    The small sponge filter is for the crankcase ventilation.

    The ventilated air contains oil fumes. The oil is collected inside the sponge filter and eventually runs back into the engine. This prevents the air filter from being contaminated with oil.


    If the sponge is in good condition it can be cleaned and re-used. If the sponge is deteriorated it should be replaced.

    The sponge is knackered, sorry if that is a naughty word. Any ideas where a new one can be obtained.

    Similar problem finding one for my Ka. In the end I purchased a 300mm square sheet of 25mm air filter foam (£6.00 Ebay) and cut off a piece to the original size. Fits perfectly and I have enough left over to last a lifetime. That’s my lifetime not the Ka’s.
