What are these for?

Noticed on top of the engine these brass type recessed nuts.

I'd guess they're for fixings for an engine cover - one stud is visible at the rear.

Those brass threaded inserts are the mounting points for an engine cover.

However, for this type of engine there has never been an engine cover available from Ford.

Where the air filter housing sits it pushes onto two studs at the back, the one that is visible and and the one to the right of the water hose. There are two bolts either side of the water hose which then secure the air filter housing.

I was just curious really.

Looks like this screw has had a hard life 😉
