Connecting jump leads

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 2020 Fiesta MHEV and it has a dead battery. I've got my hands on some jump leads but can't work out how I'm supposed to be able to connect the lead to the positive terminal. Seems impossible to get deep enough to clip it on due to all this plastic casing. Am I missing something obvious? I can connect them to my husband's battery no problem as it doesn't have all this plastic round it. Any help appreciated, thanks

Can you get the clamp on the terminal nut that's pointing towards us at the right hand side?  That might be enough for a jump start.

The Focus MHEV has a different type of plastic that just slides off with none underneath which is a better design.

Thanks, I didn't realise I could do that so will try now

Worked a charm, thank you!

Quick question, could this have been caused by me leaving the keys inside the car overnight but with the engine/ignition off? Car has push button ignition, car was locked remotely with the spare key before bed but main set left inside overnight...

Possibly, but it's 6 years old now, due a new battery anyway.

Fit one before it lets you down

Thanks, I'll get it booked in.

Sorry for another follow up question but now my car has the engine management light on and the Ford app suggests it's an "electrical issue with the engine knock sensor".

Google says this might just be a temporary thing since the battery ran flat, or do we think it needs looked at?

Thank you!

Can you clear the code yourself?  It probably was caused by the battery going flat, but some codes stick until they get cleared with a code reader.

Get yourself the phone version of FORScan (£7) and a vLinker dongle and you can reset the codes yourself, and in future carry out full diagnostics free !!

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

OR

For diagnostic use only:
