Seat replace

Featured Replies

My seats in my Fiesta y2009 is worn out, and I have acquired a better set from a y2014.

Not surprisingly there are differencies.

What's common is that they are heated, and have sensors for seatbelts/a person sitting in front.

Meanwhile the y2014 set have side airbags in front seats and the y2009 have not. I will leave the yellow connectors alone and forget about it.

Then there are the heating wirings.

Original the seats have a button on the outside covers below. I suppose power is present at the switch with ignition on. I have an electronic background, a voltmeter and other tools for wires.

The newer seats are powered via a switch set on the front panel of a 2014 Fiesta. Besides these seats have a "Heater Mat Controller" p/n 1765111-1 , which the old ones have not. No switch on these outside covers below.

SO - I consider to take the old covers with switches, and mount them on the newer seats.

My car must supply constant power in the blue connectors with ignition on. I just have to insert the "old" switches in the line just after the blue connector. Sounds right?

Has anyone tried something similar?
