Gearbox part number

Hi, Is there any way I can find which gearbox I will need for my sons car without getting to teh part number on the bell housing which I'm assuming isn;t easy to get to?

It is a 2018 Fiesta ST-Line 1.0 Eco Boost 6 speed

    Reading the part number from the identification sticker is the most dependable way to obtain the exact part number.

    During production Ford used dozens of different part numbers which are not all compatible. Microcat only lists the most recent (replacement transmission) part numbers and not the original part numbers that were installed during production.


    Be aware that the MX65 transmission is infamous in the trade. It is often called a "chocolate gearbox" because of its high failure rates. The modular MX65 transmission was designed as a cost effective replacement of the old IB5 transmission. Strength and durability did not come first (or second) when this transmission was developed.

    Buying a second hand MX65 transmission is like Russian roulette. There is a considerate chance that a second hand replacement transmission is also not without its problems. If the original transmission is still in a serviceable condition it is recommended to have that one rebuilt using the latest updated parts.
