Rear Door Movement

Featured Replies

Ok noticed this the other day.

When the rear doors is closed on my 5Dr Titanuim, I can push them in further, they return to the normal position, but find this odd, never seen this before. Usually once a door is shut U cant move them lol

Does mine need to be aligned or something?

No that's normal. Mine is exactly the same. The door catch holds the door tightly against the rubber seal to reduce wind noise, but there's some give in that seal so you can always push it in a little further. The door only needs adjustment if the catch isn't holding the door level with the bodywork.

My doors looked slightly out of line on my Zetec S, I only noticed this when locking the car in the evening light the door looked like it was not quite shut. When I pushed on the top part of the door panel it went in a bit and looked more flush. Anyway it went back to the workshop for adjustment and they said if I was not happy with it they would have to send it away to their body shop. I have left it for the time being, I thought that in time the door rubbers would have more give in them. Now someone I know had a look and said you could slightly adjust the door catch yourself to bring the door in. Has anyone ever done this ?

i have had the same problem on my mk7 fiesta, took it to the dealers, and they alligned the door, took only about 30 min to fix......

on my old bmw e32,i had to adjust the drivers door because it looked like it has not closed properly,so here is how i did it:

1.open the door

2.loosen the bolts on the hinges

3.close the door

4.m8 pushed the door from the outside so they could sit properly

5.i tightened the bolts from the inside

job done!! :D

however,i would recomend you leave this kind of work to ford.....
