Ford Fiesta MK7 Locking wheel nut removal (2010)

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

My locking wheelnut has been knackered by the local budget tyre shop and now it slips when trying to remove the locking nuts.
So far I've managed to remove the stupid cap covers and chisel off the spinning ring around the locking wheel nut, but when I try to hammer on impact sockets of varying sizes they wont stay on, chrome ones refuse to be hammer on aswell.

I bought this special remover socket set on amazon: "https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pronese-Remover-Locking-Removal-Extractor/dp/B0CQM571Z8/ref=sr_1_7?crid=3JQRGBX1CMGZV&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.ATAjh_fMek5SnK4G3iQxhQ2JXRew6rDsw5IywbGhg62IZrlJDTy6UnXCgDBtTbYwqTBsSwfNbRgQdEbrrwwNO6abHcdH9zhjPeXJfRCQAO4v3N--kJHSdHC2JYrVE5o76KtfY7M2048f65us3obC9VjAeisXElOad2X_7ZHW7rbi7qv1suvrJthXI7PoeE0v6hpJCzoJCzrt8Zbt1fdUC-xfmFxFAQBl4UvDsWgUIWp4OeMXA5F3zjGTfw99_teTK0B3jjIbAI_s1BbMR2Ft9s73gOZ7w-yCJf8LHncr3Rc.0wstwELPahdgpWQwGMFaSdOQpCAxCGYvzZUEx3QZw3U&dib_tag=se&keywords=wheel%2Bnut%2Bremover&qid=1768756118&sprefix=wheel%2Bnut%2Bremover%2Caps%2C96&sr=8-7&th=1"

But none of the sockets would fit over and grip onto the security nut they were either too large to grip or too small to hammer on (19mm/21mm), I think it's because only on the security nut there's an oversized shoulder that is there to prevent thieves from hammering on oversized/similar sized sockets and stealing wheels.

Out of spite I'm trying to do it myself because I just don't want tyre shops butchering my wheels anymore.

Anyone have any ideas? I don't have a driveway so I'm working on the street and have access to a 1000nm impact wrench, breaker bar, common hand tools etc.

I'm wondering if anyone knows about a specific socket that can be used to remove these wheel nuts keeping in mind the oversized shoulder where the nut kind of flanges out.
