Broken Instrument Cluster swap in Ford Focus II 1.6 TDCI

Featured Replies

Hi.

My instrument cluster is broken and I buy a new one for change them.

I own a Ford Focus Station 1.6 TDCI 109CV/81kW and a G8DA engine and almost 485.000 km. It was manufactured in 2005.

It came equipped with automatic air conditioning, ABS, ESP and parking sensors.

The new panel was purchased based on these specifications (1.6 TDCI, G8DA, and year of production)

What do I need to do in Forscan to replace it without any problems?

Thanks for any help.

Regards.

Hi,

Generally we have these repaired in the UK to save the hassle of reprogramming.

You will have to program the PATS immobiliser otherwise the car won't start with the new panel. I don't know the process for this myself but hopefully bumping it up will get some more views from other members.

Yes, as Tom says, don't swap out the cluster on these, send your cluster off for repair.

Focuses were sold everywhere, so everywhere must know of the cracked solder joints issues on MK2 Focuses

Search locally for MK2 Focus Instrument Cluster repair and see what comes up

Are you sure the cluster was broken? What symptoms lead you to that conclusion?

Hi Thanks for your answers.

Some leds of advisors are fused, some times the spedometer needle drops for no reason, the display shows messages that do not appear in forscan as DTC, etc.

I think these anomalies are normal in MK2 after the years.

And since I had already had the odometer repaired some time ago...

OK

You can source a used cluster but it must match petrol or diesel rev counter, you can fit a high level if you are low level but rev counter must match

You will need to load the asbuilt files from your cluster, using FORScan and program your ignition key (PATS) back in
