2005 zetec S exhaust manifold

Featured Replies

hi!!

sorry if this is a silly question

does anyone know wether or not an exhaust manifold for a mk5 (2000-2002) fiesta zetec S will fit my mk6 (2005)? i know they have the same 1.6 engine (or i think so) so it should line up, but does anyone know if the floor pan is the same? or it it will fit? the only options i have are mild steel and ebay specials. however i have a piper option that is a 4-1, but id rather have a 4-2-1 as is the one in the link ill put below.

thanks in advance!!

4-2-1 exhaust manifold by piper exhausts:

As long as the O2 sensor fits it'll definitely fit the engine

You may need a section making up at an exhaust fabricator to link from the MK5 manifold joint to the MK6 Exhaust

that makes sense!! given i’m assuming the mk5 has one sensor i think it’ll just be a matter of welding in a second sensor port. either way i think ive decided on going for the steve wyndham 4-2-1 exhaust manifold instead. it’s mild steel but comes with a piggyback ecu for £442, which is better than £585ish!! either way i need to think about it a lil more before i buy either manifold

The MK5 has the older 1.6 Zetec SE engine. The MK6 has the newer 1.6 Duratec engine.

Despite belonging to the same Sigma engine family there are lots of technical differences between the Zetec SE and Duratec engines. Even the engine block and cylinder head design were changed (closed deck to open deck design).

The only way to be certain that the MK5 exhaust manifold will fit the MK6 engine is by test fitting. Do not just assume that it will fit just because both belong to the same engine family. If I remember correctly the exhaust port shape and dimensions are different and do not line up 100%.

Apart from that the exhaust routing is also a bit different. There is a chance that the MK5 exhaust manifold interferes with some of the components inside the MK6 engine bay.

thank you!!! i really appreciate that, i didn’t realise there was a difference in head design. i will stick with the mild steel option designed specifically for my engine, no point risking it i reckon!!
