help with clutch issues on 16 plate focus tdci please

Featured Replies

Hi, i purchased i focus last year but unfortunatley the clutch pedal is now not popping back up correctly, the clutch doesn't appear to be slipping just the pedal doesn't fully come back to its correct position. I have had to keep lifting it up with the side of my foot.

The gear box is 6 speed, the car is 2016 tdci 1.5

The problem is intermittent it doesnt happen all the time.

Has anoyone come across this before?

Hi,

This is a common problem but there is more than one potential cause.

It could be caused hydraulically by either the slave or master cylinders sticking. Or it could be caused by the spring getting weak on the clutch plate and going 'over centre'.

Both the clutch plates and slave cylinder require gearbox removal to replace. So generally we would start with the Master Cylinder as that's behind the pedal and a cheaper & easier fix. If still the same after that, then we'd do the 3 piece clutch kit which covers both slave and plates so should definitely fix it, but at much greater cost than the MC.

Possibly the D M F is the problem, I had this fault with a Mondeo 2.0 TDDI.
