Anyone here use the NatWest app?

Featured Replies

NatWest 'updated' (god help us LOL) their app, and ever since yesterday, I get the following error message. Anyone else use the app and get the same? According to their service section, it's all working swimmingly 🤣 I have forced stopped the darn thing, cleared the cache, gone into Google Play and forced an update. Rebooted phone. No joy. Don't want to reinstall as I've long since forgotten passwords etc and can't be bothered with the hassle (just use fingerprint in general use. ..., their 'help' section doesn't...

Mine seems to be working okay Stephen (as at 28/01/26, 22.50).

If yours still not working, unfortunately you may have to reinstall, and create new passcode. Help section all AI now (ie. NO HELP 😪).

Yes, you need to delete app and reinstall

It updated to v07.62.0000.23538.0

I tried to login online with laptop, and for verification, they need you to use your fingerprint on app - which doesn't work LOL

Ended up phoning them, as contact online is impossible. Anyway, guy said there were issues since the update, and 'promised' to phone me back with some news (yeh, right...)

Why do IT folk insist on fixing things that aren't broken???

In the case of banking apps it probably is to do with security.

None of this would be necessary if all humans were morally responsible. For thousands of years humans have been taking things that don't belong to them. Most of the archaeology we dig up from thousands of years ago is weapons. And generally located on mounds, surrounded by defensive walls or ditches. Humans are just awful.

When MS supported Windows 7, over that lifespan, they applied 100s of security patches without destroying the OS. Unsure why apps are so different...

Bit the bullet and uninstalled the piece of rubbish. (Found my login details from a piece of paper I stored years back!) and all working now, Except I never got an option to select 'fingerprint' for logon, just face recognition. There are no settings I can see in app to change it. Oh well, looking forward to the next update 🤣

EDIT

Found the biometric settings option! They don't half hide them well!

Yes, quite a few times the NatWest app asks for confirmation by face recognition for larger purchases.

I look at the phone with a grumpy face - and that works every time haha!!!

That "Cora" is about the most useless AI system out there. Whatever I type in anything I end up going round in circles! Very frustrating!

But ... I have another way of contacting the NWB. I get on my bike and cycle into town. Where there is actually a branch still open. Very rare these days. But for how much longer? There's never any customers in there! "All done online these days" is what I'm told ... I know which I prefer to sort any problems out.

I think it's high time our politicians got off their hands and did something to hold these companies to account for making it so difficult for their customers to contact them.

Can't see it ever happening though. ☹️
