I'm thinking about purchasing a variable wiper stalk (6 speed) of ebay( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FOCUS-FIESTA-MONDEO-VARIABLE-WIPER-STALK-ford-parts-/360300273204?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item53e391de34#ht_3722wt_994 ) but was just wondering if it is just a straight swap of if it has to be programed for that vehicle, as when i was at college we where told newer cars not sure from what year, that the stalks had to be programed for that specific vehicle. Just wondering if this is thw case or if its just a straight swap.

Was just a straight swap in my mk1. Check that pin 10 has a wire coming from it in your car though as thats for the variable function. just whip the steering cowel off and you'll be able to see. But no programming required.

ive also got the variable wiper stalk and the ghia map light, both a very simple straight swap - will take less than 15 mins

Wacked both mine in after raiding a car from the scrap yard only cost me about 7 quid for both they just needed abit of a clean and boom bobs ur uncle. Hardest part i had was removing the original wiper stalk mine must of been welded in at the factory!
