Clutch issues Ford Fiesta Zetec

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

Wondering if someone could offer me some advice please, and a heads up that I am not knowledgeable about cars at all so will do my best to describe the issue - I will be taking it to the garage just would like a heads up or small idea about what it could be and might cost me.

Had my Ford fiesta Zetec 2015 for around 7 years and this has happened a couple of times in the past, but then nothing and today happened twice whilst driving.

Clutch appears to get “stuck” in first gear and I need to turn the car off and on to get it to release the clutch. The pedal also feels a bit lighter with little to no resistance.

It also appears like it interferes with the cars computer and will make the dials go fuzzy and will turn off.

It also feels like momentum is building up on the clutch and it’s lurching my car forward a bit which indicates that’s my clutch is about to get stuck.

Again sorry I’m not the best at describing car related issues. The mechanics always hate me 😂

Hi,

There are two possible faults for this, but it's difficult to tell which one it is.

Usually we would start by replacing the cheapest part - the clutch master cylinder behind the pedal. This should cost you around £150 at a garage.

If the problem is still there afterwards then the gearbox needs to be removed to replace the clutch slave cylinder and the 2 clutch plates. This is a much bigger job and will cost over £500 at a garage.

The fuzzy dials is a strange symptom. I think that is a red herring and not directly connected.
