Focus will not start

Featured Replies

I need some help.

I replaced the battery in my 2015 Focus mk3 1.5 Ecoboost because it wouldn’t start & the battery was completely flat, now it will not start when I push the start button and I get a series of warning messages.

The red message says ‘Engine Service Required’, followed by these,

Active City Stop not available, Hill Start Assist not available,

Cross Traffic malfunction, BLIS malfunction, Park Pilot malfunction.

I have checked every fuse in the 3 fuse boxes and have also function tested the Ignition, Engine Control & Starter relays in the engine & luggage compartment fuse boxes.

Next I used my DMM to check the resistance between DLC pins 6 & 14 (CAN high to CAN low) with the ignition off, it should be 60 ohms but it reads 120 ohms, indicating either a broken terminating resistor or a circuit break, I now need a wiring loom / circuit diagram to continue finding the fault., does anyone have one I can use please.

Did it start/run ok before the battery change because if so, just do the basics again. Is it a new battery or a spare you had. If its a standby battery thats not been used at all it can show full voltage then die when under cranking current. Was the alternator o/p ok prior to these problems. If the BCI, s dont get a healthy voltage they will shut down all the non-urgent modules as it seems to be doing.
