Warning signs of bad drivers

Featured Replies

Is it just in Shropshire or everywhere, I have noticed that about 90% of terrible drivers have a bright yellow warning sticker in the rear window of their cars, whenever I see this sticker I always take extra care and give extra space for these drivers, the sticker doesn't say warning or bad driver, is says Arnold Clark, it must be a certain type of person who buys a car from them !

Has anyone else noticed the same ?

I think it says more about the people who haven't noticed a massive advertising sticker on their rear window. The rest of us would remove it immediately! 😄

Sure it's the yellow sticker and not one of these

I've known several instances of people damaging their heated rear window elements while doing that.

Never happened to me, always do it very slowly, using a hairdryer to melt the adhesive as I go. Often wondered if dealers put the sticker over the hrw elements deliberately as they know many people will be too scared of damage to try removing it.

I've not bothered with my current and previous Fiestas. The stickers were obligingly placed right at the top of the window so the view is not obscured and on the ST particularly, the glass is so dark its invisible from outside anyway!

Definitely a bad driver - they are going backwards......

In '83 I bought a new Capri from Pattersons of Newcastle, they acknowledged that it constituted advertising, and to compensate offered a free accessory to the Value of £10.00 to compensate, I wonder if any dealer does such a thing now? With discount, that new Capri was cheaper than the one year old model on their S/H forecourt.

Why are Ford doing this ?
Replacing the chrome with boring white, is it a ''I'm a more modern look and chrome is outdated now'' ☠️

Probably copying the likes of VW, BMW and others. And they're not just white but illuminated as well.

It is because of environmental and health safety reasons.

Chrome plating is highly toxic and dangerous to both the environment and human health. It can even cause cancer. The issue isn’t the chrome look itself, but the manufacturing process, which uses hexavalent chromium.

The EU has regulations that, starting in 2024, effectively ban the use of hexavalent chromium in manufacturing processes, including traditional chrome plating. The USA is expected to follow with similar restrictions around 2039.

As a result, vehicles sold in the EU can no longer have chrome-plated logos. Most manufacturers have addressed this by replacing chrome with different materials or colors, or by introducing illuminated logos instead.

Ford went the cheap route and just replaced the chrome plating with white. They could have chosen polished stainless steel instead, but that is more expensive. The bean counters are probably responsible for the new logos being blue and white.

The bean counters have bitten them on the bum recently with certain recalls. Costing ford dearly compared to what they initially saved. 😂😂

I'd missed that one. That certainly explains all the new cars I'm seeing with illuminated badges/grille outlines, or presumably why Audi's 4 rings are black. I prefer what Ford have done, tbh.

Millions of people now eating Basa fish instead of Cod as it's 'dirt' cheap, top chefs telling folk to eat Basa instead of Cod or Haddock, yet where the Basa fish comes from the rivers are heavily polluted, the fish are swamped in big rectangle farming areas, fish are bumper to bumper together with no swimming room, the rivers which is subject to high pollution from industrial waste, pesticides and other toxins including Lead/Aluminium/Cadmium, all allowed to be emptied in the rivers in Vietnam from factories.

Then chrome can't be used on a badge.....giljotiini

I actually prefer a nice polished stainless steel enameled Ford logo. Like they used to be in the good old days.

I am curious what will happen when you order a new replacement Ford logo for an older Ford model. Will these also be replaced with the new blue/white design or will Ford still manufacture the old design.

Well, I guess it will not be a problem to order nice chrome logos from China.

And here's me thinking it was a chavvy mod' using a can of Halfords can of satin black paint.....🤣😂🤣

But to go back on topic: I really don’t understand why people would accept stickers or any other form of advertising on their cars. When I buy a car, I specifically ask that no stickers or other advertising be added, and I also request that anything already on the car be removed.

Years ago, during a warranty job, a dealership managed to replace my “Ford – Go Further” license plate surround with one from the dealership. Needless to say, I was not happy about this, so I demanded that they put my original license plate surround back. “Sorry, sir, that one has already been thrown out with the trash.”

It took them considerable effort to find a replacement, since Ford no longer made them.

But back to the original post, people who buy cars from Arnold Clark, seems to be terrible drivers, but talking to people who have looked at buying cars from them , tell me about how they try to con them into additional fees, so have walked away, maybe their customers are of limited intelligence anyway !

Anything hanging from the rear view mirror is a 100% guaranteed bad driver's flag.

Arnold was , family is Scottish. I didn’t know they had dealerships in the south. More commonly known as Arnold Sharks! It’s the biggest chain of dealers up here, two motors I’ve bought from them, their salesmen will argue over a set of car mats (Arnold Clark car mats!) on a £10k car. I’d say avoid them but their stock is so big often they’ll have exactly what you’re after.

Their stickers are really difficult to remove !

A work colleague went to them, found a car he wanted, he put down a £2000 deposit, was told he could pick it up the following week, he went back in on the agreed day only to find they had sold the car to someone else, they then tried to get him to take another car, he refused, it took him a full month to get his deposit back, he told me they are just total con artists !
