Hi, i have a mk6 fiesta zs tdci. I put a new used alternator around 3k miles ago and its blown the new one. Car ran perfectly fine with no issues or warning, but i don’t believe its a coincidence that it blew this one as well as the old one. Has anyone had this issue before?

    I have seen this issue when using the wrong type of battery on this era of Ford. Should be Silver Calcium for the SmartCharge. But they don't make them any more and most people seem to get away with standard lead acid now. Definitely worth checking what type your battery is anyway.

    Really !!? There must be many cars that should have AgCa batteries, including three of mine !

    Not that many left now. Most pre-2010 Fords have rusted away. 😁

    You can still buy Calcium Calcium batteries which are supposed to be a suitable replacement, but even those are not easy to find. To make it more confusing, many manufacturers use the word 'silver' in their branding of other battery types.

    Cheeky - all of mine are pre 2011 and one dates (like I do !) from the last century !!!
