Manual Transmission removal Help! 2014 mk7/8

Featured Replies

Hello!

Posting here a bit in desperation. I am quite deep into a diy clutch replacement and have hit a sticking point

I have successfully removed the exhaust and drive shaft and undid (nearly) all the bell housing bolts to discover that unlike all of the vidios, I have one maybe two bolts that go in from the engine side, located next to the crank shaft position sensor and have near zero access to their heads. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions / has encountered this them selves? Am I right is concluding from youtube that earlier MK7 the bell housing just unbolts from the engine with all the heads on the transmission side?

to make more room i would have to remove more of the exhaust and I REALLY do not want to do that ( have already had to cut a few nuts off to get this far and the nuts in question have bad access)

Turns out my van with a 2014 plate is neither a mk7 or mk8 but somewhere in between. the actually transmission and such seem to be mk8 with minor differences while my chassis is definitely mk7. I think this is why I have so little space

the mk8 one which is relevant for me repeatedly mentions the transmission removal procedure which it does not contain. Dont know if mine is incomplete or if they never added

Side note, I cant afford to just hand this over to a mechanic ;)

Thanks in advance for any replies

Well, today went better. turns out the answer was just to commit ant take off the remaining exhaust piping which with a liberal application of RP-90 actually didn't put up a fight. I how have successfully gained access to the clutch :)
