Engine management

Featured Replies

I've had the engine management light come on my 22 plate 1.5 diesel kuga saying service engine soon, and I've had the fuel particulate error message come on my online app also, I've booked car into the garage, but they can't look at it for a few weeks, would it be ok to drive until ive had this issue investigated?

Maybe but not advisable. If the DPF is full and cannot regen then it will continue to clog even further and will be putting back pressure on other components.

Obviously if it's just a sensor fault and the DPF is not actually full then it'll be safe to drive. But we cannot tell from the information provided.

Thanks for the info, but the engine management light and notification on my mobile ford app have disappeared now, so i don't know what it was.

As said, knowing what it was is key to deciding what to do and it may well return....
I can only suggest you look around here to see the number of times Forscan is mentioned!:
https://forscan.org/home.html
That app and and the dongle such as:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08H82WC8L
ANDROID ONLY (iOS needs a different one)
Will allow you to read codes and monitor live data etc.
I wish there was a "sticky" that could be referred to immediately!

As you are out of warranty (?) you will be paying £XXX? for a simple plug in computer diagnosis so far better IMHO to get the app and a dongle so you can read the exact codes yourself without waiting (they sometimes disappear when engine turned off making decisions difficult)
There's also Jimmy's channel for all DPF related issues (dealer may well say you need a new one or forced regen which I don't recommend unless absolutely necessary - other views on here differ):

If it IS a DPF issue the underlying fault MUST be found!
