Featured Replies

Hi all i hope your all doing great.

I have a problem with my ford focus 2015 ecoboost 1.5 auto.

The mechanic changed the water pump and didn't lock the crankshaft pulley.

the car now makes a noise.

does anyone no what has happened and how do i fix this issue?

i am grateful in advance from who ever here has mastered this field.

Thank you in advance

Hi,

The waterpump on the 1.5 EcoBoost engine is driven by the aux belt, not the timing belt. However, the timing belt tensioner is bolted to the waterpump.

It is possible to replace it without removing the timing belt, but it must be wedged in place so that the belt cannot move during the job.

If the belt wasn't wedged and it now makes a noise then the valve timing will almost certainly be wrong. You now need the timing belt checked and retimed. Or ideally replaced if it has not been replaced recently.
