Fiesta 2023 washer fluid level warning

Washer fluid level on Ford pass app

Never seen a warning light come on for low washer fluid level, does the car have a sensor? How does the app know 🤔

Cars have had washer fluid sensors for quite a long time. Even my ol' 2008 S-max. 🫣So...d'0oh

For the computer to know anything really (air temperature, rpm, fuel pressure, oil pressure, washer fluid level, etc), it needs to interpret information (in the form of voltage levels), which it gets from a sensor, or a switch.

Looks like you never had it empty then ? OR it's not working. You can easily test it...

Even a '90 spec Sierra, but I have had a MKl eyeball for longer than that !

But perhaps on a modern car, the reservoir is not in view unless you have an endoscope !

Sierra had low washer warning and all the rest of the "clean hands" system from '82 Ghia up

Not many Fiestas had low washer warning though.

They must've costed out power fold mirrors and costed in low washer warning!! Thanks TVM

Sounds like Monkey Wrench needs a lesson in manners and a lesson in how not to be sarcastic...Doh....

My 2020 Fiesta recently ran out of Washer Fluid and there was no warning light on the Info Panel when the fluid was low.

Having owned 3 different JLR cars in the past, (this is my first Ford), I was a bit surprised to find that the only warning you get when you run out of fluid on the Fiesta is that the screen stays dirty?

As for the App, does the Washer Icon actually work and show accurate washer fluid, I must admit I didn't check it.

The Old Git

Generally modern UK Fords have a level sensor fitted if they have factory headlight washers.

However other countries specifications seem to vary.

Never noticed this in any of the 6 Fiestas we've had over the years. It's not mentioned in the "symbols glossary" in the handbook for my current one.

This other recent thread also suggests it doesn't have this:

Probably didn’t explain my self very well, had plenty of cars with a washer fluid level sensor and warning light 🤣 if the app knows it’s low why not also put a warning on the dash, wondering if it is there but just needs switching on with forscan, Just seems strange that that the app knows but nothing on the dash, and it has run out of washer fluid before with no warning light

If the app knows there must be a level sensor.

Yes, try turning it on in either central configuration or IPC with FORScan

If there is a Sensor, and I have my doubts, maybe you get a written warning instead of a light.

My Ford Pass App now says the same thing and It's not the first time that the App has given duff information like telling people to clear a non-existent Sensor under the Number Plate and giving the wrong recommended Tyre Pressures.

There is rarely additional hardware fitted but not activated on recent Fords. I agree with Tizer that it's just an app glitch if you've run out without getting a dash warning.

Easiest test will be to just let it run out again and then tell us whether the app status changes in a few weeks time...

To confirm, there is no level sensor on Fiesta washer bottles. never has been.

The instrument cluster is capable of reading and displaying a low level, but there was never a sensor or any wiring put in the Fiesta.

I have fitted one, run the wires and activated in Forscan. Details are in a link that was posted somewhere above. At least one other on here has done the same. I get a message and graphic in cluster when it is low and an alert in the app also tells me when its low.

Sorry had no intention to be rude. I dooh myself all the time 😄 also i do enjoy a good sarcasm ..Also not a native speaker here, so connotation might easily be off on them corners! 🙂

Anyway... about the only thing i'm 100% certain is that my '98 1.3 Fiesta had no such sensor. Was a good reliable car. Wish the paint jobs today were as thick as back then.

I wish there was a sensor, it is very annoying when you run out mid journey. My previous car, a 2004 Skoda Fabia, had one and I miss it on the Fiesta. I have noticed it is mentioned in the secret menu system, although no warning light on dash, I'm guessing it would just be a warning message.
