Transit not turning over

Featured Replies

Hi all

bit of a long tail but I will keep it as brief as I can.

Bought van for motorhome conversion. Was slow to start in cold and didnt have much service history. Decided to do timing chain, full service and glow plugs. Glow plug snapped in head, so head had to come off. Injectors were serviced and one replaced. Got all back together but when I attempted to start it no joy.

It started straight away but for a couple of seconds then died, which I expected as the fuel filter and injection system were empty. Tried again cranking it over a few times with no joy and then nothing.

The ignition lights all come on and go off apart from oil pressure, engine management and one other but on cranking there is nothing, no clicking or attempts to start at all. Battery is charged and good, all other electrics work. I have tried disconection of the battery and locking and unlocking the doors and all the usual stuff.

Can anyone tell me. If the key is not being recognised would I still get engine lights. Also, other than that would anything else prevent it from at least cranking over. 🤔🤔

No Key, no ignition

Did you put the same injectors back in the same ports?

If not they need recoding

Did you code the new injector?

If not that needs recoding

Does the engine actually turn?

If not timing is majorly out and it has locked.

Did you ensure the fuel pump was timed correctly when doing chain?

But if it was just injector codes it would crank but not start, if it's not cranking make sure it's not locked

Or it's just that the battery is actually NOT good or the fuel rail just needs re-bleeding (but it should still crank)
