Nostalgic hunt for first car

Featured Replies

Long shot here, recently started really missing my first car.

It was a 55 plate mk 6 facelift Fiesta

REG: DV55 WWN

Put a decent amount of work into it when I owned it, loads of great memories!!

Checked the mot history on the gov website and saw it hasent been taxed or MOT-ed in over a year.

Just thought I’d put this on here on the off chance anyone knows what happened to it.

I know it’s probably been scrapped or something at this point but who knows.

Cheers

David

Hi David,

Most of the car checking sites e.g.

https://www.checkcardetails.co.uk/cardetails/DV55WWN

claim to have theft/write off/salvage etc details but you'd have to pay for a full report. I've tried tracking down a few of my old cars**, with varied success, but have always declined to pay a fee so never found out if the claims are true.

(**I found it quite depressing to see from the MoT history that some of them had obviously been sadly neglected by later owners.)

I reckon it's been scrapped too but you shouldn't get too engrossed in seeing if it's actually is about, drive you mad bash On another note my late mam had a Chevette in the early 80's, reg number SNU 415X, our first ever brand new car, it comes up as untaxed from 1994, no MOT's showing......I know for a fact it's in a garage rotting away, about 8 miles from me, owner doesn't use it or want to sell it.

Yeah tried some of those websites, and did pay for one just incase, but even when I paid there’s very little definitive info on there :(

I suspect it’s been scrapped too especially as it’s just a standard spec and only really “special” to me. This post is mainly just a Hail Mary. The way I look at it is if (as I’m expecting) no one knows it’s fate it then I’m no worse off.

But cheers for the info both, ya never know who might stumble across this and have an answer

An old fella up in Yorkshire spent £20,000 restoring an old 70's Morris Marina 😒 Not that the car will be worth thousands in the future, it wasn't about the money, by chance he came across his dad's old car, his dad long gone but the memories stood firm with photos after photos of his young childhood from the 70's, he just had to have his dads car back and restore it to brand new, just like when his dad first got it from new.
