After 30 secs running

Yep, totally normal.

Unbalanced and sounds like a sewing machine

If you don't know when the plugs were last changed, change them

My recently purchased a ford fiesta active X 2019 ( 60K miles ) for my wife.

My engine does this too. Its like its missing a beat, skipping, adjusting something every 4 -5 secs.

The rev counter is completely stable.

I cleaned every sensor ; air temp, MAF, MAP, throttle body and changed the spark plugs, oil and filter. I confirmed the purge valve is working too and the coils leads are good also.

Increasing the current draw by running all fans and AC makes no difference either.

I also confirmed there was no misfires logged with an obd scanner too.

MPG seems normal too.

It's a three cylinder, it's unbalanced by design

A blind person would think it's a 1970's Massey Ferguson running 🚜

Or a brand new Talbot Horizon

Sounds like a bag of spanners with the bonnet open, so seems normal.

After 8 years of 3 pots (12 if I include my wife's car) I don't really notice any more.

Don't all diesels sound like that....it was a diesel..wasn't it?

I've never had a diesel that sounds as bad as a 1.0 EcoBoost. Diesels are low and grumbly. 1.0EB's hiss and rattle and tick like that sheep shearing machine in Wallace and Gromit. 😅

Anyway, I think the concern in this thread is the way the revs drop to almost stalling before increasing again periodically. Sad to say that is standard for the latest generation of petrol engines. The PCM is constantly fighting to get the emissions as low as possible while also keeping the revs high enough to prevent the engine stalling at idle. It's just part of the mapping on Euro 6.2 petrols, there's nothing actually wrong with it.

You can always fit an engine cover - several threads on that, eg:

https://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/106525-mk8-engine-cover/

It was never fitted as standard to the Mk 8 Fiesta, and needs trimming slightly.

I've worked out why it sounds so bad...someone has stolen one of ya pistons..should there not be 4
