Hello everyone i have a 2005 ford fiesta and i recently noticed that the reves havent been stable and the car was sort of reving on its own with RPMs within the 1500 and 2000 range and also have the ABS and Handbrake lights on, on the dash board, and noticed a crazy consumption of fuel, does anyone know what the problem might be

Hi,

It sounds like you have more than one fault.

ABS light is obviously the most important one to fix for safety reasons. You will need Forscan to read the ABS fault codes.

Revving on it's own is often caused by a split vacuum hose if it's a petrol engine. But I wouldn't expect that to increase fuel consumption considerably. So again would check for fault codes first.

Hi, thank you for the reply, i did a quick scan and the fault that came up was " suspended communication with ABS module" and now i dont know whether i have to replace the whole ABS module or it mght be the ABS sensor, and i am new to owning a ford and how ecatly can i access FORscan and what OBD is required.

Thank you in advance

No problem. With that fault wording it will not be a simple sensor fault unfortunately. It could be a fault inside the ABS module. But it could also be a wiring fault. You can check the large plug on the ABS module, and the earth points nearby, for corrosion or breakages.

Forscan is a free download for a laptop - Download FORScan

They also show some recommended adapters such as the V-Linker FS - Vgate vLinker FS ELM327 For Ford FORScan OBD2 Diagnostic Scanner Interface Tool 779605072568 | eBay UK

Forscan can be used on a mobile device with a wireless adapter, however there is some confusion over whether the mobile apps are still downloadable or not currently.
