Power shift auto gearbox oil leak

Featured Replies

All of these are my best guess...
Have you looked at all relevant live data TCM PIDs in Forscan to see if there are any anomalies (compared to what may be expected?) and seen if the selector positions are mirrored in Forscan and if there are any solenoid related faults when the fault is ON?
This is the only available wiring diagram that I know of (bottom two wires are Earths):

Thanks for this. I don't have a Forscan unfortunately. Also due to other commitments, I haven't been able to get back on to it and I'm away for a week from tomorrow.

I have however now noticed shuddering front standing start and revs fluctuations. Seems like the dual mass flywheel is also on its way out. All engine mounts are fine with one replaced 2 months ago. Obviously if I'm replacing this, then at least the oil leak can be sorted at the same time.

Differences Gen 1 to 2 (unsure when that happened and I don't think it's a "true" DMF?):

They may have moved the fault from the springs and plastics to a drum which fails?

Juddering can be caused by multiple things and I believe my advice still applies - get Forscan, check all relevant transmission related PIDs etc.
Check fluid and filter (have lost track of state of this) Confirm wiring is OK, test if any difference when in manual mode.
Last resort - Forscan transmission reset (at your own risk) i.e. everything external first before looking for repair shop with good history and warranty if that is the route decided.
Your comment above on stop leak - I have looked for them and I wouldn't use (likely for torque converters?) Too much risk of affecting the friction characteristics.
From all of the above getting Forscan and doing some diagnosis or reset (even if nothing comes up) is a lot cheaper than going the repair route without any confirmation that you've looked at everything possible but that's just me (as usual)

Thanks for this, it really is appreciated.

The juddering and gear changes in the first 3 gears is getting worse.

I have since renewed the gearbox oil and filter. The filter was very clean with no signs of plastics, metals or any other debris. Although it had been replaced during routine maintenance in November last year.

I'm guessing for the Forscan software I simply sign up for the 2 months free trial? The car is obviously not being used now as the wife is using my car and of course we don't want to worsen the situation but need to get it sorted and do everything I possibly can before heading to a garage. The car has just covered 150k and I am told that this is the usual mileage that this problem occurs ??
