Engine Over-run

Featured Replies

Hi chaps, first time on the forum, hoping someone may be able to help me out.

My Fiesta 1300 Finesse suffers for an intermittant engine over-run.

Can go days without problem, then suddenly, as I'm changing through the gears, the engine revs do not reduce when I depress the clutch, but stay "high".

Also, when changing down the gears approaching, say traffic lights or a roundabout, the engine over-revs substantially. Only "cure" is to turn of ingition and re-start.

Car is regulary serviced etc. and I have no problems starting the engine. Choke works ok and "goes off" one the engine is warm.

I have a Haynes manual and am mechanically competant.

Can anyone help and pin-point the problem for me please?

Regards & thanks

Ray
