Mk3 diesel smell in cabin

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a 2012 Focus 2.0 TDCi which has developed a smell in the cabin when the climate control is turned on. It's best described as a diesel exhaust smell. It only appears when the climate control is turned on.

We've had a look over the engine and the only thing we've found is a small coolant leak from a pipe at the back of the engine heading to the heater matrix.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

I am not certain in your case, but I have a similar issue with mine. Sometimes It is worse than others though. It was suggested to me, to get the turbo V-band clamp looked at. It’s best to get a genuine Ford one from my research. Hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge can add a bit more for you. Have you checked for oil leaks? Mine is a bit moist on the right hand side, pull out the air box, and shine a torch down to the top right of the engine and check for any leaks. Not sure what the cause of mine is yet, trying to recover my finances 🤣
