Oil change

Featured Replies

I had a service on my focus 1.5 diesel which included an oil and filter change the next day I dipped the oil to see if the work had been carried out and the oil is black after only 70 miles. I've read this could be normal but as this is the first diesel car I've ever driven I'm not so sure can somebody help me please.

Welcome!

This is a common issue and IMHO due to the small (?) amount of oil left in during the change (depending on how it is done, if it is through the dipstick hole then likely more left?)
You do need to trust the garage doing the work!
There is the option of using flush which I (that's me, personally) find keeps it cleaner longer but that is Marmite and DEFINITELY not for wet belts which, until confirmed otherwise, yours is likely to be?

Hi Bryan,

Sounds pretty normal. I did my own oil changes for many years and recall being quite surprised at this when I did my first diesel.
