My Fiesta 1.4 Tdci Is Using Way Too Much Fuel! Help

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have recently bought a 52 plate fiesta 1.4 tdci, it is not doing anywhere near the mpg it should be doing and is really slugish in the lower gears literally stalling sometimes. It also smells of fuel inside the car sometimes.

I am just wonderig if anyone has had this problem before or if anyone knows of an issue that could be the reason this is happening.

The car should be doing around 65mpg and its doing under 40.

Thanks,

Jade

65mpg may be the official jackanory consumption figure but the real world figure should be 50+mpg-ish with more on a long cruise and less if stuck in town based short journeys.

Less than 40mpg would indicate you are either driving like a madman or there is something wrong.

does anyone have any idea's as to what it could be thats wrong with it please?

Thank you.

with the smell of fuel in the car, look for signs of fuel leakage around the injectors, it common for the injector seals to go on the 1.4tdci.
