Oil Level

Featured Replies

I done a service in the summer bought a 5 litre bottle of carlube oil. Drained and replaced filter, filed with oil, and checked level every so often all looked fine. Still got some oil left in the bottle. Checked it today to day after it sitting there over night and it and it is well over the checkered zone on the dip stick ono the bent section but after running for awhile it goes to bout half way on the checkered section. Please can u advise thanks in advance

When the engine is switched off the oil will slowly drain back to the sump, and display more, when the engine is warm the oil will be inside all the parts (rockers etc...) and the level will be lower.

A general rule is when replacing oil always go by the cold oil level. I'd drain some out if I were you.
