Drivers Side Window Wont Go Down

Featured Replies

Now, its been particularly freezing yes, but the passenger side window goes down fine.

On my drivers side you get the inital clucnk of movement and the window literlly juts to move but nothing..if I help it with my hands I can move the window down so theirs about an inch gap from teh top, then its jsut jammed, not going anwnywhere, tho if I flick the switch I can make it go up again.

No I thought or figured if the motor was knacked from trying to use in in the freeze then their would be no signs of life from it, is it possible theirs been some moisture in or over one of teh "cogs" and its preventing the window from moving down?...as theirs little I can do to test this till theirs a bit of a thaw!

Sounds like it is frozen to me mate.

Water does run down the window inside the door and will freeze in this weather.

this has happened to me almost every morning for the past week or so

to sort it out just pour hot water along the window sill, that will melt the ice stopping the window going down

HTH

Thats ok, I was taking the weather into account but was worried that the motor had knackered itself, seems odd tho that the passenger one goes down fine.

My drivers one has got stuck a few times, barely use the passenger one to be honest. Was funny the other day when I tried putting it down before leaving work, only for it to really struggle (could hear the motor slow down). Thing is, it didn't stop when I let go of the button despite not pressing it all the way for the one touch. Once it got about halfway down it stopped itself, so I pulled the button up to shut it. It moved a small amount, then reversed itself and went all the way down while straining again. After that the buttons did nothing, it was stuck fully open. I had to wait many minutes until it worked again and I could close it and leave the carpark! Then a few days later when I went into a multistorey car park it wouldn't budge so I had to open the door and squeeze out at the entrance to press the button to get a token. Fun times!

Probly a silly question, but why would you want to open your window in this cold weather?

To clear what I thought at the time was wet from the window; should have realised though that it was ice and not wet due to the windscreen being frosted up...

exact sames happening with my fiesta, as someones allready mentioned: warm water down the sills to melt the ice and its fine.

Happens to mine a lot, I need it to get into the car park when I go to work, I usually just spray it with de-icer and it works fine after a while :)
